Dear Doc.,
Rape is an act of violence. Rape is commited to humiliate and degrade. Rape is about power and control, violence and aggression, and sadism. The rapist attempts to force his power or to prove masculinity by contempt for anyone he wants to consider weaker than himself. Rape is not sex. Rape is not about lust or passion. Rape is a violation of a womans' rights concerning her body. Rape is a crime of violence. Rape is not motivated by sexual desire.

Puan Dr,

Let me get straight to the point, pertaining to your comment on how `shallow' my view was. Obviously, you might not have understood the whole article. I sincerely hope you could still spare some time to search the archive and read the whole page of ruangan Agama BH that day, April 27th. I wrote quite a long article on this issue, which the editor divided it to two parts - one was given the title - Masyarakat bermoral cegah jenayah seksual ( my name was written as the writer) and followed by `Suruhan tutup aurat untuk kebaikan lelaki dan wanita', at the lower section following the first article, however my name was not written there ( this was refering to the hard copy, not the on-line version). An intelligent, educated and well-read woman like your good self would have read all -before passing a comment. Let me read out the first article from the second paragraph - Pada saya, isu pakaian wnaita dan kaitannya dengan jenayah seksual agak kompleks dan tidak `straight - forward'.
What you have quoted was the first view out of two views, which is NOT MY PERSONAL VIEW! Kindly read through the second view, which I am sure conformed very much to your VIEW. If you are interested to know what my `Islamic view' is regarding this issue - kindly read the second part of the article that did not carry my name on it entitled ` Suruhan tutup aurat untuk kebaikan lelaki dan wanita'. I am certain if you are a very sincere person who really wants to look up for the truth, Allah will lead you to the ultimate truth. May Allah SWT blessed you. Let me emphasize here that I will never allow you to have this very misguided impression about me `supporting the perpetrators of sexual violences on my fellow sisters. NEVER!!!
`Apa lagi bagi lelaki2 yg puan sokong akan hak mereka utk melakukan jenayah sosial disebabkan
wanita2 yg dikatakan tidak berpakaian sopan.
And as for your suggestion for me to stick to what I am `pakar in' - thank you again for the concern.
BTW, I have been working with women from all walks of life, in multiracial, multicultural, multireligious Malaysia as an obstetrician & gynaecologists for the past eight years. I have dealt with rape and incest victims in real life. It was not just through theories. With due respect to my feminist colleagues who are in the struggle of women empowerment through advocacy and Beijing Platform of Actions, CEDAW, Bejing +10 and all - I am giving my small contributions to the upgrading of the women's lives as a whole in my own ways. And I only need Allah's recognition for what I have done to keep me going.
Thank you again.
May Allah SWT guide us all.
